Publicist. Writer. Consultant. DJ. Host.
Based in London, Chanel Kadir has been working in the music industry for 10 years. Starting in music PR and building her way up to becoming a Director at Dawn. Creative Agency, running the agency since 2021, Chanel’s experience is varied in output; from founding the music blog Untitled 909 in 2017 to curating and consulting on an industry-changing platform wav.world, co-founding the F1-related mix series G-FORCE and working in-house at Boiler Room - first as Head Of Press before moving into the Creative department as Senior Creative Lead (working across copywriting, content creation and ideation, programming, trend monitoring, influencer strategy and PR).
The thread that weaves everything together is storytelling. With a keen eye of pulling together compelling narratives and connecting the dots between artists and movements, this is showcased through the content ideas at Boiler Room, finding the link between sport and music with G-FORCE, spotlighting interesting artists, scenes and movements around the world on Untitled 909 and pulling together campaign stories for artists and record labels as a way of promoting their projects. There’s a constant drive to share other people’s stories. Always an oversharer, Chanel uses her own platforms to share recommendations for music, mixes and other cultural tips via Substack and Instagram’s Broadcast platform - this has allowed her to bring communities together and constantly share things that she’s excited by - a necessity for someone who is constantly down a rabbit hole of discovery.
At Dawn. Creative Agency, Chanel has led on global 360 PR campaigns, that cover press, radio and club, for artists, record labels and festivals such as Eris Drew, Octo Octa, Dekmantel Festival, Draaimolen Festival, Flow Festival, Batu, Nick León, TraTraTrax, BADSISTA, 3024, Wisdom Teeth, Lapsus Records, Balmat and NAFF to name a few. She’s also worked on radio plugging campaigns for Duval Timothy. These campaigns have included world-renowned placements at BBC Radio 1, Mixmag, The Guardian, Pitchfork, New York Times, DAZED, i-D, Interview Magazine, DJ Mag and BBC 6 Music.
Some of Chanel’s external projects include hosting the Draaimolen Festival podcast, hosting and managing on-site interviews for GALA Festival, and hosting two long-standing radio residencies on Refuge Worldwide and Netil Radio.
